Welcome to 'Best Of' week! I've spent the last few weeks reflecting on my reading year and distilled my favorite reading experiences into a few categories. Each day this week, I'll share a list from one category. Culminating with my Top 10 on Friday.
I have a shelf dedicated to romance books, and the lovely colored spines and fun fonts never fail to delight me whenever I look at them.
It's no secret that the romance genre is having a renaissance, and since the pandemic has surged in popularity.
I firmly believe that the key (and fun!) to enjoying the genre is narrowing down on what you like in a rom-com. What kinds of main characters? What tropes? What settings?
Me? I prefer my love stories with a classic (Nora Ephron) feel, slightly older main characters with interesting to me careers (usually something creative), a touch of spice, and preferably British. I discovered this last year and continued searching for titles and authors with some of these aspects.
Of the 22 romance books I read this year, here are the seven I loved and couldn't stop thinking about.
