This sounds like the perfect vacation! And I'm officially adding Vinalhaven to our Maine bucket list. We'll be on Peaks later this month and now I'm looking even more forward to it than I already was.
Sounds like a wonderful trip! I really love your reflections on a trip versus a vacation—sometimes it’s hard to justify taking days off to relax but that’s often what I need most!
Around 10 years ago we spent a fabulous week on Deer Isle and took the ferry across to Isle Au Haut, those islands off the Maine coast are absolutely beautiful.
Obsessed with this trip and may need to replicate it next summer! Also so glad you're enjoying The God of the Woods. I loved it. Adding The Wedding People to my list ASAP!
This all sounds delicious Michelle!! Pat and I are headed to Stow for a couple of nights to celebrate our 10th anniversary and are currently planning our itinerary, I love your framing of trip vs. vacation. That cottage too oh my!! 🤩
Sounds delightful! The God of the Woods was the book I took as I traveled last week (not a vacation) and it was SO good. But I agree with you, there’s a certain time & place for reading it, and in nature isn’t ideal.
I love the way you approached your vacation. It sounds like it was exactly what you needed! Your reading list looks fantastic as well. I'm eager to dive into a few of those titles soon.
This sounds and looks like a true vacation! Beautiful all around. Living in a tourist area myself, it's nice to take some time off to play tourist too. We move to these places for a reason! Haha.
Where are you living in Maine? My husband & I are building a new house in Falmouth, I can’t wait to move-in!
It's beautiful! I imagine it'd be a great spot for a little family vacation.
Yes! Really the ideal summer reading setup...

I'm so excited for you and your annual Peaks trip! I'm heading there Saturday to photograph a wedding ◡̈

Yes! Exactly. But when we can lean in to it, it feels so nice!
What a dream this trip (I mean, vacation!!!)! I wonder if I can convince the husband in doing the same, with zero things planned and just vibes...
10/10 recommend ◡̈

Oh, Deer Isle is so beautiful! I photographed a lovely elopement there last fall and I have been scheming to get back.

Yes! We will chat The Wedding People next time we see each other ◡̈

I hope you two have the best time in Stowe! I bet it's divine in the summer.
Clearly I need to read The Wedding People! Also this vacation sounds ideal
I will definitely be recommending The Wedding People to everyone for the rest of summer ◡̈
Perfect getaway!!
So much so that we're considering making it an annual thing!
What a delightful relaxing vacation, Michelle! I love Pilcher, but haven't read Carousel yet - I'm excited to find a copy to dive into soon :-)
I hope you serendipitously come across one soon!

Hahaha, yes I did not think about setting...but I am really enjoying it!
that's my thought too at the end of every vacation, sad to leave but also ready to go see the kitties! sounds absolutely lovely
We definitely went in to town once a day to snag wifi at the cafe just so I could see the photos the cat sitter was sending 😂
I've been listening to The God of the Woods as I trail run in the woods solo... it's an exciting experience but definitely makes me SO jumpy, haha.
Oh GOSH! I can see that being jump inducing!
