Welcome to May I Recommend. A series where I recommend a book I love in a really fun and relatable way. Think: mood boards, favorite quotes, playlists, and similar TV/movie/book vibes. Consider it a heartfelt recommendation from me to you.
Michelle, this is perfect! Based on my post for today, we seem to be on a similar wavelength 😂 I’m going to pick this one up immediately! I love Beth Kempton—I did one of her virtual writing retreats last year and it was so wonderful; the perfect mix of inspiring with slower pace. This book sounds perfect for right now!
Just requested this from the library! You know I’m as disenchanted with the consumerist and wasteful tone of the holiday in America for the same reasons as you are, so maybe this will help me love December again ❤️
This book sounds so lovely. I am a big fan of Sarah Ban Breathnach's books (especially Simple Abundance) and this sounds like it has the same cozy vibe as her books. Thank you for the rec!!
Oooh this sounds really good! I *love* this time of year (keeping it low stress has long been a priority), but am increasingly disenchanted with the consumerism of it all. This sounds like a good guide to help me be more thoughtful + aligned with my values.
Yes, exactly! I too love the holiday season but the consumerism of it all has really been bothering me these last few years. This definitely helped me refocus.
I've read this book, and I follow Beth Kempton, who is a fabulous writer and creator. She has a podcast of the same name -- I believe it's in its fourth season now -- and it's just delightful! Great book! One to revisit each year!
Beth's book is such a joy! It has now become a tradition for me to reread it every Christmas. I highly recommend her Christmas podcast if you didn't know already.

Inspiring with a slower pace is such a perfect way to describe her vibe! I love it.

I think you are really going to enjoy this one, Katy!
This book is exactly what I'm looking for. I put it on reserve at the library per your suggestion.
I'm so glad! I can't wait to hear what you think ◡̈
The quotes are lovely ! Just the thing to read as we enter our winter world.
Exactly, so soothing! I can just feel my shoulders relax reading them.

I didn't know about the podcast, thanks for sharing Amy! I am going to check it out.
I'm so glad this was such a hit for you! I've felt a big (good big!) difference this month going into the holidays because of this little book.
Yes, same! I am so grateful you shared about it. Thanks (as always) for passing on delightful book recommendations <3
