So excited to read Summer Romance soon, and you may have just sold me on The Last Romantics! My fave of the season so far has been Sandwich by Catherine Newman ~ reading a book about a vacation with young adult kids while ON vacation with young adult kids was perfection.
I just started Sandwich last night! I'm loving how thoughtful and funny her writing is. I bet reading it on vacation with your young adult kids made it hit extra hard 😂
I almost DNFd Birnam Wood but when I hit that big moment I couldn’t put it down after! I loved that multiple characters felt like they could be Lady Macbeth to me - really interesting book.
Yes! My husband read it at the same time as me and encouraged me to keep going when things were slow. And totally about Lady Macbeth, that made for such good book club fodder.
I hardly ever pick up a romance and yet so many of the classics I love are romances at their core. Maybe I need to go for one of those bright happy covers soon. Birnam Wood has me intrigued. Not this year but likely to read that one day. Thanks for the bookish insights and good on you for supporting a fellow-substacker with a review.
I love your review of Such A Bad Influence. I'm not much of a thriller reader either, but this book intrigues me so much. So glad to hear that you liked it 🤎
I remember loving The Last Romantics and all the siblings povs. According to my Goodreads review I thought the ending was perfection. Too bad I don’t remember it. Ha ha
Love this! I’m so glad you had a good reading month despite the busy-ness. And thrilled to hear you loved The Last Romantics!!! This was one of my faves in 2019 (right before I started my bookstagram 😂) and I feel like I didn’t get to gush enough about it with anyone! I’m finishing up This Summer Will Be Different and it’s right up there with Effie Olsen for me 🤩
OMG yes to romance stories that aren't just about poor communication. 😅 The Last Romantics has a cover that resembles a lot of other covers and blends into the noise, so while I've seen it around it never stuck in my brain, thank you for highlighting it and putting it on my radar.
Thank you for sharing these fun summer reads. I have recently started creating more space for reading fiction, and I’m loving it!! Light fun reads are my favorite!! Thank you for sharing 💖💖💖
really looking forward to finally reading Birnam Wood now that I have a paperback copy !
I love how much you love paperback copies 😂
Im really just a simple gal lol
Early in the month, I read A Talent for Murder. This isn’t a genre I typically read, but I was captivated by the story and read it quickly.
That's the best feeling, isn't it?
I just finished "Summer Romance." Monaghan delivered, and it had quite a bit of depth to it. I think it might be the perfect summer read.
Agreed, she just writes such perfect summer romances. I love them!

I haven't read any of these but they were all on my list except for Tara Conklin's novel. I'm glad you enjoyed all your books this month!

Family saga spanning several generations? Sign me UP. Can’t wait to read
It’s a good one, I think you’ll especially appreciate the NYC setting!

Hahaha I don’t want to say anything because I don’t want to ruin it here for anyone…

I love that you’re in your summer romance era, so fun for you!
I read Nightwatching this month and it was an incredible thriller.

Same! I don’t know why I avoided it for five years other than that the cover doesn’t really say anything about the story.

Oh I have heard good things about Summer Romance! Hopefully, I can get around to it in July!
