The month started with me still riding the coattails of last month’s reading slump, and then the second half of May swept in with the full force of the busy season. There’s always a bit of a transition as I move from the slower winter months into the rhythm of the wedding season, and I tried to give myself grace this month as I navigated that.
Between weddings, birthdays, Mother’s Day, our anniversary, and a spontaneous weekend away, this month felt especially full and celebratory. And while there were some moments of stress, I’m ultimately grateful to have a packed calendar after a quiet winter.

May also ushered in summer reading season and I found myself reaching for books that matched that mood (even if the weather did not get the hint!). These happy summer romances buoyed me this month and I wish I could bottle up their magic into many more books. But alas, I guess that’s what makes some writers so special.
